{"id":27445,"date":"2023-10-17T15:03:27","date_gmt":"2023-10-17T15:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/news\/nvidia-stock-falls-after-u-s-announces-new-restrictions-on-ai-chip-exports\/"},"modified":"2023-10-17T15:03:28","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T15:03:28","slug":"nvidia-stock-falls-after-u-s-announces-new-restrictions-on-ai-chip-exports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/?p=27445","title":{"rendered":"Nvidia stock falls after U.S. announces new restrictions on AI chip exports"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"RegularArticle-ArticleBody-6\" data-module=\"ArticleBody\" data-test=\"articleBody-2\" data-analytics=\"RegularArticle-articleBody-6-2\"><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\" style=\"top:0;left:0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p><span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\">Nvidia<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and a number of other chipmakers saw shares fall Tuesday morning after the U.S. announced new restrictions on exports of AI chips to China.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of chip stocks have boomed in the last year due to the increased demand for AI products and services, which is powered by AI chips. <\/p>\n<p>The new restrictions on exports to China are a step up from previously announced restrictions on AI chips that the Biden administration had implemented over the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia was down about 6%, and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-3\">Broadcom<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> was down about 3.5%. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\">Marvell<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-5\">Intel<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> were down 3.3% and 3.5%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The new restrictions ban the sale of the slowed-down version of Nvidia chips, the H800 and A800, that were allowed to be exported to China under the old restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The updates are specifically designed to control access to computing power, which will significantly slow the PRC&#8217;s development of next-generation frontier model, and could be leveraged in ways that threaten the U.S. and our allies, especially because they could be used for military uses and modernization,&#8221; U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on a call with reporters.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia believes that the increased restrictions will not immediately lead to a material effect on its financial performance.
