{"id":23058,"date":"2023-09-28T22:13:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T22:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/investing\/oil-extends-march-toward-100-a-barrel-after-u-s-crude-drawdown\/"},"modified":"2023-09-28T22:13:33","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T22:13:33","slug":"oil-extends-march-toward-100-a-barrel-after-u-s-crude-drawdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/?p=23058","title":{"rendered":"Oil extends march toward $100 a barrel after U.S. crude drawdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"js-article__body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-sbid=\"WP-MKTW-0002550428\" role=\"document\">\n<p>The U.S. oil benchmark ended at a nearly 13-month high Wednesday after a further decline in domestic crude inventories stoked supply worries.<\/p>\n<h2>Price action<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"articleList\">\n<li>\n      West Texas Intermediate crude for November delivery<br \/>\n        CL.1,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/211629951\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.05%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        CL00,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209723049\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.05%<\/bg-quote><\/p>\n<p>        CLX23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209727121\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.05%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       surged $3.29, or 3.6%, to close at $93.68 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, its highest finish since Aug. 29 and its largest one-day percentage gain since May 5.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      November Brent,<br \/>\n        BRNX23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209705773\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-0.25%<\/bg-quote><span>,<\/span><br \/>\n       the global benchmark, settled at $96.55 a barrel, up $2.59, or 2.8%, for its highest finish since Nov. 7.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      October gasoline<br \/>\n        RBV23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/215376529\/delayed\" class=\"negative\">-3.16%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       rose 1.4% to $2.599 a gallon, while October heating oil<br \/>\n        HOV23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/215376448\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.64%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       gained 2.8% to end at $3.315 a gallon.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n      October natural gas<br \/>\n        NGV23<span\/><br \/>\n       jumped 4.1%, ending at $2.764 per million British thermal units.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Market drivers<\/h2>\n<p>The Energy Information Administration on Wednesday said U.S. crude inventories fell 2.2 million barrels last week, while gasoline inventories rose 1 million barrels and distillate stocks increased by 400,000 barrels.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n<p>Crude at Cushing, Oklahoma, the delivery hub for Nymex WTI futures, fell 900,000 barrels to 22 million. The analysts expected Cushing to see a 1 million barrel draw in crude supplies. Tight inventories at Cushing have been cited as an added factor in WTI\u2019s rally and in driving the market into backwardation \u2014 a phenomenon in which nearby futures contracts trade higher than deferred contracts, reflecting tight supply.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStorage has not fallen below 20 million barrels since 2014. There is talk in the energy space that low pressure at\u00a0Cushing\u00a0from historically low storage, could cause operational difficulties at the country\u2019s largest storage facility,\u201d said Robert Yawger, executive director for energy futures at Mizuho Securities, in a note.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts surveyed by S&amp;P Global Commodity Insights, on average, had expected U.S. crude stocks to show a fall of 2.2 million barrels, with gasoline down 800,000 barrels and distillate stocks down 1.1 million barrels. <\/p>\n<p>The November WTI contract\u2019s premium over the December contract<br \/>\n        CLZ23,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/209727423\/delayed\" class=\"positive\">+0.12%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       widened sharply to around $2.40.<\/p>\n<p>Crude rebounded from early weakness Tuesday to finish higher, despite pressure on other assets perceived as risky that saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average<br \/>\n        DJIA<br \/>\n       post its biggest one-day fall since March as it and the S&amp;P 500<br \/>\n        SPX<br \/>\n       posted their lowest finish since early June. Stocks were under continued pressure on Wednesday.
