{"id":21925,"date":"2023-09-25T09:19:50","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T09:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/news\/china-property-stocks-tumble-as-evergrande-drops-25-on-debt-restructuring-roadblock\/"},"modified":"2023-09-25T09:19:52","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T09:19:52","slug":"china-property-stocks-tumble-as-evergrande-drops-25-on-debt-restructuring-roadblock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microloannexus.com\/?p=21925","title":{"rendered":"China property stocks tumble as Evergrande drops 25% on debt restructuring roadblock"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"RegularArticle-ArticleBody-6\" data-module=\"ArticleBody\" data-test=\"articleBody-2\" data-analytics=\"RegularArticle-articleBody-6-2\"><span class=\"HighlightShare-hidden\" style=\"top:0;left:0\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>Hong Kong-listed shares of embattled Chinese real estate firm <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-1\">Evergrande<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> tumbled as much as 25% on Monday, after the company said that it would delay a debt restructuring meeting due later today.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of other major Chinese property stocks in Hong Kong also fell as the sector saw a sell-off.<\/p>\n<p>The Hang Seng Mainland Properties index slid just over 4% on Monday, while other real estates stocks took a beating. <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-2\">Country Garden<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> was down 7.69%, <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-3\">Logan Group<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> fell 7.95%, while <span class=\"QuoteInBody-quoteNameContainer\" data-test=\"QuoteInBody\" id=\"RegularArticle-QuoteInBody-4\">R&amp;F Properties<span class=\"QuoteInBody-inlineButton\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistContainer\" id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\" data-analytics-id=\"-WatchlistDropdown\"><button class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-watchlistButton\" aria-label=\"Add To Watchlist\" data-testid=\"dropdown-btn\"><span class=\"AddToWatchlistButton-addWatchListFromTag\"><\/span><\/button><\/span><\/span><\/span> was down 6.62% on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of Evergrande traded as low as 41 Hong Kong cents on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear, Evergrande shares have plunged as much as 87% after resuming trade on Aug. 28, turning it into a penny stock. Trading was suspended in March last year.<\/p>\n<p>In a filing with the Hong Kong exchange late Friday, Evergrande said &#8220;the sales of the Group has not been as expected by the company&#8221; since its March debt restructuring announcement.<\/p>\n<p>As such, Evergrande &#8220;considers it necessary to re-assess the terms of the proposed restructuring to meet the company&#8217;s objective situation and the demand of the creditors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Collapsible-proliveCollapsableContainer\" role=\"button\" tabindex=\"0\"><svg court to intervene in cross-border insolvency cases involving foreign companies that are undergoing restructuring from creditors.<\/p>\n<p>Tianji Holdings, an affiliate of Evergrande, and its subsidiary, Scenery Journey, also filed for Chapter 15 protection in Manhattan bankruptcy court, according to the filing.<\/p>\n<p>Evergrande, the world&#8217;s most indebted property developer,
