You can order four free testing kits per household at the government\u2019s official COVID.gov website starting on Sept. 25.<\/p>\n<p>According to the site, these free at-home tests are designed for use:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIf you begin having COVID-\u206019 symptoms like fever, sore throat, runny nose, or loss of taste or smell, or<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 days after you come into close contact with someone with COVID-\u206019, or<\/li>\n<li>When you\u2019re going to gather with a group of people, especially those who are at risk of severe disease or may not be up to date on their COVID-\u206019 vaccines\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If you still have tests on hand at home, the government urges you to check their expiration dates before throwing them out. You can learn more about test expiration dates on the Food and Drug Administration website.<\/p>\n<p>If you are in urgent need of testing for COVID-19, your options include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buying an at-home test at a retailer, such as a pharmacy.<\/li>\n<li>Checking for free testing sites in your area. More than 15,000 such sites are available.
